What is VeteranCrowd®?
VeteranCrowd® is the largest card-linked cash back platform built exclusively for the military & veteran community and their families. Members verify their status once — through the VA API or military email — link the Visa card already in their wallet, and earn automatic cash back at participating merchants. No codes, no checkout friction, and no cart abandonment.

Who can participate?
In order to offer cash back through VeteranCrowd®, you must have the VeteranCrowd® app installed on your Shopify store. Additionally, we have some exclusions based on product type including (but not limited to):
•    CBD/THC, tobacco, or alcohol-related products
•    Offensive or overtly political content or products
•    Firearms, ammunition, or firearms accessories
 

What is the recommended cash back rate?
To provide a compelling offer to our deserving member base and to drive conversion for our merchant partners, we recommend the following minimum cash back rates by category:

Note: You set your own cash back percentage — you have total control over the margin impact. Cash back is funded by you as a marketing expense, not a revenue reduction. Higher cash back rates drive higher engagement and conversion within our member base.

How do I set up my store?
Getting started with VeteranCrowd® on Shopify is easy:
1.    Install the VeteranCrowd® app from the Shopify App Store.
2.    Log in to your VeteranCrowd® merchant account (or create one — it takes seconds).
3.    Set your cash back offer — choose your cash back percentage and which products or categories qualify.
4.    Activate the display — toggle the VeteranCrowd® cash back badge on your product pages, cart, and order confirmation in the Shopify Theme Editor.

That's it! Your store is now live on the VeteranCrowd® network, and verified military members will see your cash back offers as they shop.

How does a customer earn cash back at my store?
1.    A verified VeteranCrowd® member browses your Shopify store and sees the cash back badge on product pages and in their cart (e.g., "Military members earn 10% cash back on this item").
2.    The member completes their purchase using their linked Visa card.
3.    VeteranCrowd® automatically calculates and credits the cash back to the member's VeteranCrowd® account based upon your defined offer.
4.    The member receives an email and text reward notification with the amount earned and the merchant name.

Since all orders are placed directly within your Shopify store, they can be fulfilled with your normal process. There is no change to your checkout flow or fulfillment workflow.

 

What does it cost to participate?
There is no charge to install the VeteranCrowd® app. You are only charged when a verified VeteranCrowd® member makes a purchase through the app. In this case, VeteranCrowd® takes a 5% commission fee.
The commission is calculated based on the total purchase amount including taxes and shipping. For illustration:

Important: The customer always pays full price. Cash back is credited to the member's VeteranCrowd® account after purchase — it is never deducted at checkout. This preserves your full margin at the point of sale.
What about cancellations or refunds?

If an order is later canceled or refunded, the associated cash back reward is reversed and the commission is adjusted accordingly. VeteranCrowd® only charges for completed, non-refunded transactions.

How does billing work?
We track orders placed by verified VeteranCrowd® members. When a verified member completes a purchase, we automatically record the transaction and calculate the applicable cash back & commission.
Cash back and commissions are billed once per month in aggregate from VeteranCrowd® directly. 

 

How can I see performance?
You can review VeteranCrowd® orders, cash back distributed, commission charges, and past invoices at any time through the Dashboard in the VeteranCrowd® app available via the Shopify admin. The dashboard provides:
•    Total VeteranCrowd®-attributed sales
•    Cash back earned by your customers
•    Commission summary
•    Transaction history
•    Ability to update and define cash back offers
